Pennsylvania take-home pay
Pennsylvania taxes compensation directly at a flat rate with no standard deduction or personal exemption. Philadelphia Wage Tax (3.74% resident / 3.43% non-resident, effective July 1, 2025) and Pittsburgh Earned Income Tax (3% resident / 1% non-resident) are now modeled under localTaxes. Other Pennsylvania municipalities (Allentown, Erie, Scranton, Reading, Bethlehem, etc.) levy local Earned Income Taxes ranging 0%–3% under Pennsylvania's Act 32 framework, administered by ~10 collection agencies (Berkheimer, Keystone, Jordan, etc.); these other municipalities are not yet modeled and their average rate is approximately 1%. Pennsylvania Local Services Tax (LST), a $52/year flat tax in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and most other PA municipalities, is not modeled — LST is exempt for filers earning less than $12,000/year from sources within the municipality, and the omission affects annual take-home by $52 (too small to be material at calculator precision). PA filers outside Philadelphia and Pittsburgh should expect an additional 1–2% in unmodeled local EIT.
